INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT

Support that fits around you.

There isn't a standard Active Ability Care support shift.

One person might need help getting to appointments. Another might want to learn how to use public transport, look for a job, get out into the community or work on their independence.

Someone else might simply need a hand getting their home and garden under control.

That's the point of individual support — it should be about what you need, not what we've decided a support shift should look like.

What can we help with?

Our support can include:

  • Community access and social activities

  • Appointments and everyday errands

  • Personal care and daily living

  • Cleaning and organising your home

  • Lawn and garden maintenance

  • Shopping and meal preparation

  • Learning practical life skills

  • Public transport and getting around independently

  • Education and employment support

  • Finding and keeping a job

  • Building confidence and independence

  • Trying new activities and experiences

And that's not an exhaustive list.

If there's something you want to achieve and you're not sure whether it's something we can help with, just ask us.

We're there to actually do things with you.

Our support workers don't just turn up and wait for instructions.

They're expected to get involved, pay attention and help make things happen.

That might mean working alongside you to clean the house, helping you prepare for a job interview, going shopping and learning to manage a budget, or getting out into the community and trying something new.

We also have a strict no-phone policy while supporting participants.

If we're there to support you, you're getting our attention.

Support that builds skills.

Whenever it makes sense, we look for ways to turn everyday activities into opportunities to build skills.

Going shopping can become an opportunity to practise budgeting and decision-making.

Catching a bus can become a step towards getting around independently.

Preparing dinner can build confidence in the kitchen.

Our goal isn't to take over and do everything for you.

It's to work alongside you and help you do more for yourself.

The right support worker matters.

Finding someone who is the right fit can make a huge difference.

We take the time to understand what you like, what you're working towards and what sort of person you connect with.

And if the first match isn't right, we don't expect you to just put up with it.

The relationship matters.

Looking for individual support?

Whether you need a few hours of support each week or more regular assistance, talk to us about what you're looking for.

Tell us what you need, what you're trying to achieve and what hasn't worked before.

We'll work out whether Active Ability Care is the right fit.
